Start of the school day

The school gates are open from 8:40am. Children are expected to go straight to their classrooms where they will be able to complete an independent task before/during registration. The registers are taken at 8:50am and lessons begin at 9:00am. Any children arriving after 8:50am should make their way into school via the school office.

Travelling to school

The roads around the school become very congested so we encourage families to walk to school. If you do drive please park considerately and please do not drive on to the school site. Bicycles may be brought to school and should be stored in the bicycle shed.  The school cannot take responsibility for any damage.  Cycle helmets should be worn and children must not ride in the school. Children should use the pedestrian crossings to cross the Norwich Road.

Assemblies

The school hold an act of daily worship on a daily basis. This act of worship is of a broadly Christian character. Parents have the right to withdraw their pupils from this and from Religious Education lessons. Parents wishing to do this should contact the Head of School. We have Excellence assemblies every Thursday, where parents are invited into school to celebrate their children receiving a certificate for their effort.

Break times and the Daily Mile

There is a morning break for every child in school. The timing of this varies between year groups. Each class completes a Daily Mile (on our all-weather-surfaced track) with their class each day. It is up to the class teacher when this is completed.

Lunchtime

Lunch is between 12:00 noon and 1:00pm. Children in EYFS are invited into the dining hall at 11:40am.

School lunches can be purchased on a daily basis or ordered in advance using the Pupil Asset Parent App. If the children tell their class teacher during registration if they want a school dinner, the payment is expected to be delivered to the school office in a clearly marked envelope. A standard dinner costs £2.30. If a child loses or forgets their money they can choose a meal and parents will be informed of the amount owing. We send home menus each term so that families can decide which days they want to have school meals. Children are welcome to bring in a packed lunch if they wish.  Packed lunches should not include glass bottles, sweets or fizzy drinks.

Drinks and Snacks

Children may bring fruit in to eat at break time. They may also bring a bottle of water to drink during the day. This should be taken home at the end of each day so that it can be washed and refilled for the next day.

End of the school day

The end of the school day is 3:25pm. If there is ever a problem in getting home the children wait by the school office.

Before/After school clubs

We are very proud of our extra-curricular offer here at APS. Each half term, parents are offered to apply for before and after school clubs that we run. Before school clubs begin at 8:00am. After school clubs begin straight after school and finish at 4:30pm.
