The Attleborough and Rosecroft Primary Federation Updated 18 March 2023 Meet the Governing Board

Introduction

In September 2020, Attleborough Primary School and Rosecroft Primary School joined together to become The Attleborough
and Rosecroft Primary Federation. Together, our two schools serve almost a thousand families, and we’re proud to be a central
part of the Attleborough and South Norfolk community.
The governing board for the Federation has three core roles which are set out by the Department for Education:

1. Ensure clarity of vision, ethos, and strategic direction
2. Hold executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the schools and pupils, and the effective and
efficient performance management of staff
3. Oversee the financial performance of the schools, to make sure our money is well spent.
Each school has a set of priorities for the year ahead, and the Board meets every half term to review the progress made
against these priorities. We work closely with our Executive Headteacher Gayle Long, and we visit the schools to see first-hand
all the good work that is happening.

Our aim for the Federation

In September 2022 I volunteered to become the Federation Chair of Governors, because the children, families, school staff and
governors here are outstanding people who are achieving so much every day. The Federation is still developing its identity, and
the governing board is here to support that development.
For my term of office (2022-2025), the focus of the governing board is going to be ‘Parent and Community Partnership’. Pupils
will flourish and thrive if they feel, and see, that their school is working together with their parents, carers, and friends in the
community.
We will do this by supporting the schools to:

1. Embrace the use of the Federation website, as a window into our schools, and to be a useful place for parents to find up-
to-date information

2. Be a listening Federation, to champion and publish our positive feedback, and to hear and act upon the issues which are
important to our parents and community

Governing Board Constitution

Acting Chair of Governors: Helen Wardale

I am delighted to have become the chair of governors for the federation. I am passionate about bringing about the best possible outcomes for pupils and giving every child a great education in our schools.

I work full time as the lead for governance within Children’s Services for Norfolk County Council and have done since 2012. The Governance Service, I oversee, supports maintained schools as well as academies with an extensive range of training and resources as well as advice and support for volunteer governors, I am also responsible for a large clerking service which has almost 35 governance professionals working within it.

I have been a school governor since 1997, in infant, primary, junior, and secondary schools within the maintained sector. I have also been a chair of governors many times and I have been a trustee and a chair of a trust board as well as of a local governing board within a MAT.

PGCE, Bsc Hons, Advanced Diploma in Coaching

Vice Chair of Governors and Safeguarding Governor: Ruth Beattie
Term of office: Sept 2021 – Sept 2025.

I have been a school governor since 2013 when my older was in Year 1 in what was Attleborough Infant
School. So much has changed since that time, including the location and name, first the change to
Rosecroft Primary School and more recently the federation with Attleborough Primary School. It has been a
privilege to be part of the Federation Board and I’m so grateful to be able to have a strategic voice into the schools.
My background is youth work and safeguarding and I have a passion for enabling young people to have a voice and keeping
them safe. I believe that every child is entitled to the best education we can give them and I believe both schools work their
hardest to provide the best starts for the children in our community. When I’m not working, I enjoy walks with my family and our
dog, and eating out with friends.

Associated Board Member: Fiona Milne

Board Vacancies

We are recruiting! If you or someone you know would like to learn more about joining the Board of Governors, please email Chairofgov@arpfederation.org.uk for more information. Our board should reflect the diversity in our schools, and we would therefore particularly welcome volunteers from an ethnic minority and the wider international community, as these groups are currently under-represented.
