Key Stage 2 Tuck Shop

The Key Stage 2 tuck shop will be open during morning break for the children to purchase fruit with their tokens.  Tokens can be bought in quantities of 1 to 10 costing 20 pence each.  Tokens are to be paid for in advance and the children collect them from the office at break time on a Monday.

Maths Tutorials

Year 5 Maths – Place Value (Identify The Value of Digits)

Year 5 Maths – Formal Written methods

When teaching formal written methods for maths, children are first taught through the use of concrete resources (such as manipulating counters, multi-link cubes etc.) and then progress onto pictorial representations (such as drawing counters). These tutorials model the abstract approach to teaching formal written methods, in which the concrete and pictorial supports are removed and the children focus solely on the numbers.

If children struggle with these tutorials, please keep in mind that they may benefit from further concrete or pictorial representations before progressing onto these formal written methods. The children’s class teachers will be aware of this and will be ensuring appropriate provision for these children.
